"ME time" is something I feel like people are almost scared to say, as though it would be embarrassing to suggest you would spend some time on yourself? How dare you look after yourself? How selfish are you? This way of thinking really takes the jam out my doughnut. I hope this posts encourages you to take some well deserves ME TIME, and don't be afraid to shout it from the rooftops. I also want to introduce you to a new range that I have fallen just a little bit in love with. Come see!
1. Get yourself some Rituals products
This first step to "me time" is to actually stop and think about yourself. Try for just a small amount of time away to block the rest of the world out and concentrate on YOU.
2. Have a Bubble Bath
I'm not saying your smelly, but having a bath can be just the thing you need to let yourself unwind, relax and take 5 minutes out! Also, it gives you an excuse to have to treat yourself to a bath-bomb or 6 from Lush.
3. Wake Up Ealier
You'll probably want to punch me in the face right now and say DO YOU KNOW HOW EARLY I GET UP?! But just trust me, even getting up just 5 minutes earlier in the morning, gives you that extra time just to sit, with a cuppa' tea (or coffee, you might need coffee) and plan your day and get your head straight before attempting to find something to wear.
4. Write a "What I've Achieved List"
There is nothing more "feel good" than writing down some positives about yourself, what you've achieved and maybe sit back and think, oh hey, I'm pretty darn fabulous!
5. Read, Something, Anything!
An obvious one but reading is super good to help you relax. Contrary to popular belief this doesn't need to be a Jane Austen Novel, just a magazine, your favourite blogs or funny lighthearted book will do! Whatever you fancy really.
6. All the Wine
I'm not sure I should be promoting alcohol as "me time" however a nice glass of wine in front of the fire, never fails. And if you're not feeling naughty like me, just settle for a mug of the good stuff. (Tea).
7. Go for a walk
A great mind clearing activity, plus you never know, you might spot something Instagramable on the way.
8. Get in touch with an old friend
Friends you have grown apart from? Moved away to live in another country? Just spend 5 minutes sending them a catch up message, letting them know how you are and finding out what they've been up to! Just be sure you don't mistake the word friend for EX - I repeat DO NOT MESSAGE YOUR EX.
9. Get creative
Whether it be drawing, painting, writing, do something creative you love doing. One thing I sometimes do is create scrapbooks. Memories/pictures of your travels or adventurers that you can keep forever.
10. Ready, Set, Bake
Bake your favourite cake, or bake a huge tray of brownies. Just make sure that you don't leave a single crumb, and remember to lick the bowl! Hey, maybe you could try my Ultimate Hazel Nut Chocolate Cheesecake.
11. Take 5
I have found this great website here which lists 40 ways of relaxing in 5 minutes or less! Its the perfect way to get some me-time in, with out taking a big chunk out of your day!
12. Get yourself some Rituals:
Rituals are a brand I have been a little obsessed with for a while now, I first tried a product in one of my previous Glossybox's and instantly fell in LOVE. The products allow you to bring a spa atmosphere at home to you. Something about the products feel just that little bit luxurious, and special. What a better way to get some me time than to have a pamper from head to toe? Here is what I would recommend from Rituals.
- The Rituals Sakura Gift Set - The Ritual of Sakura - Relaxing Ceremony Set £65.00 I was kindly sent this set from Rituals after me trawling through the website trying to decide which collection was the most "me" - there are so many to choose from but something about the Sakura range called my name. This gift set is wonderful value for money at £65.00 and is the perfect treat yourself gift, or a great one to add to your Christmas list. As well as this, it would make the perfect present for a family member/loved one. The products in the Sakura range all have a distinct floral fragrance which has become my go-to pick me up scent - you'll see as you read on, I use the products A LOT!
Here is a bit more information about what comes in the set, and what I thought of the products:
1. The Ritual of Sakura Shower Foam 200ml There is something just that little bit more luxurious about a shower foam, isn't there? I don't really know why exactly, I guess it's just because it's well, foamy? This beautifully scented shower foam is almost like a cuddle in bottle and leaves you feel calm, relaxed and smelling pretty darn good to. Buy it separately here. 2. The Ritual of Sakura Bed & Body Mist 50ml This is probably my favourite product of them all, the Bed & Body Mist is a multi purpose mist that I use for just about EVERYTHING around the house. I spray it on my bed sheets which leaves my bed/room smelling divine. I also spray it into my washing machine leaving clothes smelling just as good. As well as all this it is also fine to use on the skin, and a great alternative to a perfume for when you are just popping to the shops or going to the gym! According to the Rituals website its also FABULOUS for using alongside your hoover. Simply spray some in a cotton bud and hoover it up - it then continues to leave the beautiful smell around your whole house! I can't wait to give that one a go! Buy the mist on its own here. 3. The Ritual of Sakura Body Scrub 375gr If you have been a reader of my blog for a while you will know that I am a HUGE fan of body scrub. If you don't use scrubs on a regular then you really don't know what you are missing! Even if I just forget to scrub for a few days, I really notice the difference in my skin and its texture. The Rituals scrub has made its way straight to the top of my "Scrub Charts" the sugar scrub with added oils not only gets rid of any dry skin, it also moisturises, leaving your skin feeling silky smooth. Pick it up individually here. 4. The Ritual of Sakura Body Cream 200ml If you can imagine being wrapped in a fluffy cloud of fabulous smelling moisture. Thats how I can kind of try and describe how using the body cream feels. The whipped, air light formula feels SO luxurious on the skin, and leaves a light scent which lasts for hours. I use this every night before I go to bed and I wake up with skin that's softer than a baby's bum! Get yours here. 5. The Ritual of Sakura Mini Fragrance Sticks After covering yourself in the Sakura fragrance, why not also allow your home to smell the same? The fragrance sticks add a subtle yet stunning scent through-out your home. Plus the packaging is super pretty so it makes the perfect addition to any room. Now I just need one in each room of the house! Get them on their own here. 6. Bag & Key Jewel. A cute little addition to the set - you also get an adorable key chain which can be used on bags/keys. It's attached to my car keys making just look that little bit more fabulous. If only it smelt as good as the rest of the set! You can also check out the full Sakura rangehere.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you do when you need some Me Time xo
