Productive Ways To Spend A Rainy Day

Oh Hey, Happy Friday Chicka's - Who's ready for the weekend? I bloody am. I actually took the photos in this post on a rather dull, rainy Saturday at the end of Feb. I didn't have any intention of using them, I was frankly rather bored and decided to have a play around with my camera. I then sat and realised I had just wasted 20 minutes of my day off, taking pictures of a rainy window. Well done Georgie. From that second I decided to get off my bum, and make the rest of the day as productive as possible, hence where this post was born! Here are my top tips for productive things to do on a rainy day!

Have A Clear-Out!

Spring Clean anyone!? I have serious hoarding issues (Does anyone else like to keep pretty packaging and carrier bags that you know you'll never use?!) so every time I have a clear out there is ALWAYS a LOT to get rid of. Over the past few months however, I have been much more strict with clear outs. I now use the rule that if I haven't used the item in 3 month, it goes! (Obviously there is exceptions I.E you might have a bikini that you simply haven't worn because you haven't been on holiday yet!) I then sort them into piles of things to sell, rubbish/recycling (all the packaging I try and hold onto), friends/family, and finally charity shop stuff. I try and have a clear-out approx every 3 months, to be sure I stop my hoarding ways! How often do you have a clear-out?

Change Things UP!

Another thing I love to do (usually good after having a clear-out actually!) is to move furniture etc round, reorganise shelves, switch up your colour schemes with things like cushions/throws etc. Just moving a few things round and adding pops of colour can really change up the feel of a room! I like to do this seasonally! Right now I have added a bit of blush pink and pastels into my room, ready for S P R I N G <3

Do The Thing You've Been Putting Off For AGES!

We all have some boring tasks that we know we need to do, but we just put them off as long as we can. Because, well frankly, they're boring!
Whatever that task may be, where possible, get it done today!

Tackle Your Inbox!

This is aimed more towards bloggers, because if you're like me I am V guilty of letting my inbox build up! However it can also be applied to anyone really, even on my personal e-mail I have a TONNE of spam that I need to unsubscribe from/delete. I would advise lighting your favourite candle, putting a nice playlist on in the background and GET STUCK IN! I use the 25 minute rule (I will be talking about this in a post coming soon) - I set a timer for 25 minutes and tackle emails constantly with NO DISTRACTION until the timer goes off! Trust me, you won't realise how much you can get done!

Get Cooking!

What day better than a rainy one to get some nice home-cooked food on the go! I have tonnes of recipes saved on Bloglovin', Pinterest and post-it noted in cook books that I have never got round to making. This kind of day is the perfect day for it! It's also a great way to use up things in the kitchen that have been hiding in the cupboards waiting to be used!

Plan Your Goals/Diary

If you're stuck at a loose end grab a piece of paper and write down what you want to achieve, this could be by the end of the day, by the end the week or even by the end of the year - it's nice to have a visual plan. It also might jog your memory of something you could do today to get yourself closer to your goal! Another thing I like to do is write down my diary for the week, include even the minor things, it helps to get you motivated and plan out your week properly!

And if all else fails, whack on Netflix and get some seriously good snacks - but don't say I told you to!
How do you like to spend rainy days?

I love having a clear out - nothing is safe in this house!
My top tip for your wardrobe - turn all your coat hangers the wrong way, then when you wash and put it back in, put it the right way round - after 6 months everything that's hanging backwards you never wear!! Time to for the charity shop!!

If I'm not blogging on a rainy day, I love organising things or cleaning (total Monica over here). I'm a bit of a hoarder of pretty packaging too and it builds up so quickly! When all that's done, it's time for a Lush bath and a bit of a pamper in front of Netflix 💗
