A weekend in the woods... Me, my boyfriend and two other couples recently spent the weekend at the Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs. We arrived on Friday evening & Checked out Monday morning - here is what I thought & what we got up to. LODGE/ACCOMMODATION We choose to stay in a 6 person (3 bedroom) Woodland Lodge. We were so happy with out choice, we were very lucky & ended up in a lodge just 2 minutes walk away from the main village, this was perfect for us as we realized upon arrival we had forgotten a few essentials so it was super easy to get to the supermarket & pick them up! The Lodge was actually a lot bigger than expected, I loved the open plan living area & the bedrooms were all a good size with a fair amount of wardrobe/shelf space. There is one double room and two twin rooms, There is also one full bathroom & then a second extra toilet. FOOD & DRINK During our stay we took enough food to cover our breakfasts & some snacks for lunch/early evening. We ate at the Indian restaurant on the Friday night, to be honest it wasn't the best food & if we went again we would probably avoid this one. Saturday - we went to the pancake house for lunch - the menu is huge and there are a big choice of sweet & savory pancakes to choose from, this place is located right by the lake which is lovely. On the Saturday night we ate in the Foresters Inn, which is a Gastro Pub by the country club, this was lovely and it was nice to get away from the main village area. Finally on the Sunday we grabbed some food by the pool for lunch (standard bar food burgers/hot dogs/chips) it was ok. Then in the evening we were all exhausted (too many times down the rapids) and we decided to eat in - there is a large take -away menu in your lodge where you can order every type of food you can think of - Indian, Chinese, Pizza, Tapas, etc etc etc, It was nice to have a chilled night in our lodge for the final night. STARBUCKS - how did I forget - they have a Starbucks.... and we went there every day... ACTIVITIES As we arrived late Friday & checked out early Monday we didn't have to much time for activities, however we managed to squeeze in adventure mini golf - this was a good laugh & great for all ages. We also did the Double Kyak which was highly hilarious.... we almost built up a crowd of on-lookers as we all tried to set sail off the beach.. our boat did not fancy a dip that day.... The rest of our time was spent in the swimming pools & slides! The swimming area is amazing and the rapids are a must!! We only touched on the activities - there is so much more you can do! Next time we would love to do the GO Karts and the high ropes look fun to! On the final evening the boys headed to the arcade whilst the girls went off to the Aqua Sana Spa - this was exactly what we needed after a weekend of action! The spa is huge (see the map below) there is a lovely heated half outdoor pool where you can relax and look up at the stars. There are also lots of different rooms to try such as the Indian Blossom Steam room, turkish Hanmam room and the aqua meditation room. There was also hot beds, relaxing swing chairs & best of all water beds! The water beds were the most comfy things I have ever experience, you literally feel like you are floating. We actually said we would love to go back and take the boys with us as I think they would love it to. They're was also a lovely looking restaurant area however we didn't eat there as we were meeting the boys afterwards for food. Fancy booking yourself a break at a Centre Parcs?
